Saturday, April 27 was a momentous day for the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum!

That afternoon, volunteers lead a behind-the-scenes tour of our Galbraith Restoration Shop.  This excursion was planned in honor of Members Day, our annual event held to thank our museum members.  Afterwards, attendees headed back to the Welcome & Education Center, where more of our PTM family had gathered. It was time for our Volunteer Appreciation Banquet.  This year’s theme was PTM Volunteers are Out of this World and our event rooms were full of decorations reminiscent of their astronomical accomplishments in 2023.

After dinner, the awards ceremony began.  PTM Board President Ed Morascyzk presented President’s Awards to Laurie Andrews and Larry Lovejoy, and Executive Director Scott Becker presented his awards to Dennis Bockus and Bob Jordan.  Scott also gave a Special Recognition Award to long-time volunteer Bill Kiehl.

We also presented the following volunteers with awards in appreciation of their work: Dennis Cramer, recipient of the Special Events Award, Roy Scandrol, recipient of the Interdepartmental Award, Mike Ziviello, recipient of the inaugural Education Award, Gary Malaskovitz, recipient of the Rookie Award, and Dom Bodek, recipient of the Next Generation Award.  Finally, the 2023 Operator of the Year Award was given to Sarah Wells.

We were proud to announce that, last year, our team of more than 170 volunteers served more than 26,000 hours!  Individuals who contributed a remarkable number of hours were honored with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.  This nation-wide award program exists to recognize individuals that make a positive impact on their communities through volunteerism.

PTM would like to sincerely thank each one of our volunteers, no matter how many hours they contributed.  All of them, regardless of how much time they spent at the museum, are part of the reason that we were able to achieve so many great things.

Please enjoy the photos of the festivities, including the snapshot at the top of the page, which shows volunteers getting 1758 ready for a post-ceremony run.  Thank you to our event sponsors, the Washington Auto Mall, and Angelo’s Restaurant, which provided a fantastic Italian dinner, and to the members of our community for their continued support.
