Come and Join Us!

Learn about our New Operator Training on February 24-25 and our Museum Guide Training on March 2 and 10.

For almost sixty years, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum existed as an all-volunteer organization.  Though our museum has grown since then, PTM still relies on our volunteer program for our continued success as an educational nonprofit.

Our volunteers are united by a common goal of preserving the Trolley Era for future generations.  The museum has worked hard to assemble a collection that showcases the types of streetcars that have served our region since the earliest electric railways.  The day-to-day care, operation, and interpretation of these cars is truly a labor of love.

With so much to do here at PTM, there is truly something to meet everyone’s interests!  Our 130+ volunteers, along with restoring and operating trolleys, also lead tours and programs, work in our archives, and help with special events.  Frequent training sessions and flexible scheduling ensure that there’s a way for everyone to join our team.

In November 2023, the museum opened a new, 21,000 square foot Welcome and Education Center.  Our expansion will allow us to reach even more visitors with the exciting stories and technology of the Trolley Era.  It’s certainly an exciting time to be involved, and where else can you have so much fun?
