Contribute to the Trolley Display Building (TDB) Exhibit Enhancement Fund during the GBU Life Match period!
GBU Life is matching contributions up to $5,000 dollar-for-dollar, so donate today and make double the impact. Assist us in improving the TDB, where over 20 of our 54 cars are on display. This challenge will allow us to update our exhibits in the TDB by upgrading the existing signage and adding signage where none exists, allowing visitors to enjoy a more informative self-guided tour that will enhance their experience at the museum. Exhibit signage will include colorful photos, simple narratives, and QR codes that will link to informative videos about the trolley cars.
Every car in the collection has a unique story, and with the current exhibits, there is not enough interpretation to address visitor questions. Colorful, updated signage with an easy-to-understand narrative will use photos, documentation, and other information from Museum archives. QR codes on the signs will link to 90-second videos will be created by My Local History (example). PTM plans on creating videos for 30 cars to start. These videos will be linked to our website as well.
Fresh, updated signage will help visitors on self-guided tours learn about our collection and the importance each car had in building communities in the Trolley Era. Additionally, it will allow visitors to learn about cars that are not on display currently and enable us to use the videos in an outreach capacity for off-site programs. They will help attract repeat visitors as there will always be something new to see at PTM.
Persons who donate $200 or more will have their names included in the video credits of one video of their (streetcar) choice from a provided list.
