Pittsburgh’s West End Streetcars, Part 2

George Gula’s latest presentation comes in two parts and features history and views of the car routes that went along West Carson Street serving McKees Rocks, West Park, Crafton, Ingram, Carnegie, Heidelberg, Elliot, Sheridan, Stowe Township, and Sewickley. All these routes disappeared in June 1959, when the Point Bridge closed and the new Fort Pitt Bridge opened. There are fewer pictures of these routes than there are from any other area in Pittsburgh. Part 1 will cover the history of the lines through the West End and the trolley scene in this area. Part 2 (September 29) will take you along to various views along the lines.
