This merit badge workshop is open to any youth in 6th – 12th grade and is designed to help BSA Scouts meet requirements for the Communications merit badge. We will be covering requirements 1C, 2A, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Additionally, Scouts will need to complete some of the work for Requirements 4 and 6 prior to the start of the workshop. Scouts will need to complete the interview for Requirement 4 and be prepared to give a short speech to complete the requirement during the merit badge workshop. Scouts will also need to prepare a plan to teach another Scout a skill or inform them about something (example: How to make the perfect paper airplane).
Scouts are responsible for the following pre-requisites: 3 and 8. Requirement 3 requires the Scout to write a 5-minute speech and present it at a meeting. Scouts should bring a copy of their speech and either photographs or a video recording of their presentation. Requirement 8 states that the Scout must plan, write, and prepare a troop or crew court of honor, campfire program, or interfaith worship service and serve as the master of ceremonies for this event. Scouts should bring a copy of the program write-up and pictures from the program.
Scouts should bring a bagged lunch!
