Welcome to a summer camp experience like no other! The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is excited to offer seven weeks of STEAM-focused summer camps for children ages 6 – 12. Our summer camps are packed full of hands-on activities designed to ignite the curiosity and creativity of young minds, blending history with hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities.
All camps include behind-the-scenes tours, interactive guided walkthroughs of our extensive collection of artifacts and historic streetcars, time to explore our 21,000 square foot Welcome and Education Center exhibit galleries, and rides on several of our fully-restored antique trolleys. Each day also includes a daily snack.

Summer camps run daily, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
LEGO® Camp
Ages 6 – 8
Our most popular camp is back again this summer: Join us for a week of LEGO® themed building challenges, artistic creations, and more! Explore the world of engineering while making models, investigate motion with cars and ziplines, then test out gears and simple machines. Create a brick self-portrait, then try painting with bricks! Design and create a LEGO® Town and Trolley Park, then ride down the rails aboard the LEGO Coding Express®.

LEGO® Engineering Camp
Ages 9 – 12
Explore the world of engineering and the forces of physics, then compete to build the tallest towers, longest bridges, and fastest vehicles. Design a paper airplane launcher, construct a working claw, and race through marble run mazes. Finish the week by building sets, props, and characters entirely out of LEGOs® to create a stop motion movie masterpiece!

NEW: History Explorers Camp
Ages 6 – 8
Step back into the past and discover what life was like over 150 years ago! Explore how people historically traveled long distances, such as with sailboats crossing the rivers and oceans, covered wagons traveling the Oregon Trail, and riding from the country into the big city aboard an electric streetcar. Play popular games from days of old, then get hands-on with traditional arts and crafts. Make historic recipes for different foods and candy, identify native plants and their uses, then try growing your own fruits and vegetables.

STEAM Camp
Ages: 6 – 8
It’s full STEAM ahead in a camp dedicated to all things science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Design, build, and test the tallest towers, longest bridges, and strongest structures. Explore the history of transportation from trolleys and trains to boats, cars, and planes. Construct working circuits out of playdough, make a batch of streetcar slime, and shrink a trolley down to pocket-size!

Extreme STEAM Camp
Ages 9 – 12
Discover how science, history, and technology come together as we explore the past and plan for the future! Make a vegetable powered instrument, then design and build electrifying inventions for a new “Smart Streetcar” using Makey Makey technology. Whip up a fresh batch of conductive playdough, then explore solar-powered vehicles and renewable energy sources. Dive into computer programming with Sphero Robotics to drive through obstacle courses, then design and race robot-powered horsecars. Unleash your inner innovator!

Frequently Asked Questions
When does summer camp registration open?
For summer camps in 2025, registration opens early for Members Only on Friday, November 29th. Members will need to check their emails for a special passcode to access the registration page. Registration will open to the general public on Friday, December 6th.
How can I register for camp?
The fastest and easiest way to register is to use our online registration system. You can also register over the phone with a credit card by calling 724-228-9256.
Do museum members get any perks in regards to summer camp?
Yes! Members get access to early registration, as well as a discounted price on all summer camps. Become a member today!
How many other children will be attending camp?
Most of our camps have a capacity of 20 campers. We have a 1:10 ratio for adults and children.
What are the camp hours?
Camp starts every day at 9:00 AM and concludes at 12:00 PM. Doors open for morning drop-off approximately ten minutes before the start of the camp day.
If you will be running late to pick up your child, please call 724-228-9256 to let us know as soon as possible.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient registration, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of a full week cancellation, all participants will be given the opportunity to switch to a different week of camp (pending availability) or be issued a full refund. Any cancellations due to insufficient registration will be communicated at least two weeks prior to the start of the camp date.
A registered participant may cancel their summer camp registration at any time up to 60 days prior to the start of the camp by providing written notice to the museum. Within 30-60 days of the start of the camp, a participant can receive a 75% refund. Within 30-14 days of the start of the event, a participant can receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within two weeks of the starting date of camp.
What other information do you need once my child has been registered for camp?
As we approach the start of the summer camp season, a Summer Camp Information Letter will be emailed out to all registered participants. This letter will include important information about pick-up, drop-off, and also provide a general overview of the camp day.
This letter will also contain a digital Summer Camp Registration Form. This form must be completed in order for your child to attend summer camp. We ask that this form be filled out no later than one week before the start of your child’s camp.
Where should I arrive to pick up or drop off my child for camp?
Camp will be at our new Welcome and Education Center this year! The address is 1 Electric Way, Washington, PA 15301. Please use the Groups Entrance, located on the side of the building.
Do I need anything when I pick my child up?
Yes. We require photo identification to release your child to the proper adult. No child will be released from our care without proper identification.
