This summer, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is excited to offer seven weeks of STEAM-focused summer camps for children ages 6 – 12. Camp hours are 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Our summer camps are packed full of hands-on activities designed to ignite the curiosity and creativity of young minds, blending history with hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities.
All camps include behind-the-scenes tours, interactive guided walkthroughs of our extensive collection of artifacts and historic streetcars, time to explore our 21,000 square foot Welcome and Education Center exhibit galleries, and rides on several of our fully-restored antique trolleys. Returning campers will be excited to find brand new exhibits in the Welcome and Education Center! Each day also includes a daily snack.
What did last year’s campers have to say about their summer camp experience? Here is some of the feedback we received on our end of camp evaluations, straight from the campers themselves!
- “He said “I didn’t like it, I LOVED it” and he wants to do it again next summer.”
- “Direct quote, “It was the BEST!””
- “I want to go again!”
What are parents and caregivers saying about their children’s summer camp experience?
- “This is my son’s favorite camp of the summer, and we are a family that has tried many, many different camps over the years.”
- “My son absolutely loved camp! He came out talking about the buoyancy of legos!”
- “Our trolley-loving son truly wonderful time at Way Back When Camp! Thank you to all of the staff and volunteers who made this camp a success!”
- “Thank you for another great summer of camps. We will see you next year!”
- “He loved every minute of it!”
100% of adults who responded to our survey also said that they rated their children’s experience at camp a 5/5 and that they would strongly recommend STEAM Summer Camps to other families!

LEGO® Camp
Our most popular camp is back again this summer: Join us for a week of LEGO® themed building challenges, artistic creations, and more! Explore the world of engineering while making models, investigate motion with cars and ziplines, then test out gears and simple machines. Create a brick self-portrait, then try painting with bricks! Design and create a LEGO® Town and Trolley Park, then ride down the rails aboard the LEGO Coding Express®.
New this year: Campers will also spend time with LEGO® Education BricQ Motion kits that will allow them to experiment with forces, motion, and interactions without the need for technology.
CAMP THEMES: LEGO®, Engineering, Art, Science, Math, History, Physics, Physical Science, Transportation
COST: $175 Member / $200 Non-Member after Feb 1st
Register for LEGO® Camp June 9 – 13
Register for LEGO® Camp August 4 – 8

LEGO® Engineering Camp
Explore the world of engineering and the forces of physics, then compete to build the tallest towers, longest bridges, and fastest vehicles. Design a paper airplane launcher, construct interactive carnival games, turn the classroom into a Brick-themed mini-golf course, and race through marble run mazes. Finish the week by building sets, props, and characters entirely out of LEGOs® to create a stop motion movie masterpiece!New this year: Campers will also spend time with LEGO® Education BricQ Motion kits that will allow them to experiment with forces, motion, and interactions without the need for technology.

STEAM Camp
It’s full STEAM ahead in a camp dedicated to all things science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Design, build, and test the tallest towers, longest bridges, and strongest structures. Explore the history of transportation from trolleys and trains to boats, cars, and planes. Construct working circuits out of playdough, make a batch of streetcar slime, and shrink a trolley down to pocket-size!
CAMP THEMES: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, History, Transportation

Extreme STEAM Camp
Discover how science, history, and technology come together as we explore the past and plan for the future! Make a working instrument out of fruits and vegetables, then design and build electrifying inventions for a new “Smart Streetcar” using Makey Makey technology. Whip up a fresh batch of conductive playdough to make real working circuits, then explore solar-powered vehicles and renewable energy sources. Spend a day learning to code with Sphero Robotics to drive through obstacle courses, then design and race robot-powered horsecars. Unleash your inner innovator!
