All Aboard! Volunteer Open House

February 24, 2015 By Trolleyologyguy

Mary Jordan and Rita Trudel

Two Volunteer Open Houses planned in March at The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is welcoming new volunteers! Two informational Volunteer Open Houses will be held on Wednesday March 4 from 4-7pm and Saturday, March 7 from 9am-Noon, for those interested in getting involved. Light refreshments and tours will be provided. The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret Pennsylvania’s Trolley Era, an exciting time in American history. The Museum’s collection has grown to fifty historic trolley cars and 2 miles of operating trolley line. It is the strong support from the community, particularly from its volunteers, that have made this possible.

Jack Demnyan

Volunteers play a key role at PTM, apprioximately 170 people contributed over 30,000 hours in 2014, filling many different roles at the museum. The museum is now involved in a dramatic and exciting expansion program. This spring the Wexford Trolley Station will be moving to it’s new home on the museum’s grounds. Volunteers are needed in the areas of: marketing, museum store, guided tours, archives, maintenance and restoration,

mobile equipment, buildings and grounds, special events and even trolley operations! The museum is always looking for new people to become involved, and this volunteer recruiting event will provide an opportunity for people to come see the museum in a relaxed, informal session. Visitors can speak with current volunteers and get an orientation of our museum. If you can not make this event we will be happy to meet with you at another time, please contact Lynne Thompson below to set up a time to visit or RSVP for either March date.

Please RSVP to Lynne Thompson: educator@pa-trolley.org or 724-228-9256. The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is located across the street from the Washington County Fairgrounds near 1-79 Exit 41 Race Track Road.

For more information about volunteering, or for further information email Lynne: educator@pa-trolley.org or call 724-228-9256. To learn more about the museum go to our website at www.patrolley.org.
