WASHINGTON STREETCAR DAY
SATURDAY JULY 31
at the
PENNSYLVANIA TROLLEY MUSEUM
Washington, PA -- Over 100 years ago, many people traveled by streetcar. Fifty-seven years ago those rails went silent as streetcar service ended in the City of Washington. As part of the City of Washington’s Bicentennial, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is pleased to have Washington Streetcar Day on Saturday, July 31st from 10am – 5pm. The event will feature rides on streetcars that are the same type that operated in Washington. There will also be a photo exhibit and program describing the days when the City of Washington was tied together by streetcar lines and Washington County was linked to Pittsburgh by the interurban streetcar. Washington had local streetcars from 1891 until June 20, 1953; the interurban opened to Canonsburg in 1903 and to Pittsburgh in 1909. This service lasted until August 29, 1953.
Half price admission will be in effect all day with adult admissions at only $4.50, seniors $4, children (3-15) $2.50, children 2 & under are free. Admission includes trolley rides, guided tour, interactive exhibits, museum store and free parking.
DIRECTIONS: Take I-79 to Exit 41 Racetrack Road, and then follow the museum signs 3 miles. Call 724-228-9256 or go to our website at www.patrolley.org for further information.
